Schengen Visa Application Guide in Dubai

Visiting Scandinavia? Here is a step by step guide on how to apply a Schengen Visa.

Swedish Visa

First of all, know what country you want to visit in Europe. For my case, I wanted to go to Sweden so I checked first on their website what requirements I need to pass. The Sweden Embassy is in Abu Dhabi so I applied it via VFS Global in Wafi Mall. The processing time for the application at the Embassy of Sweden is approximately 15 Days.

Documents that need to be submitted:
  • A completed and signed application form no. 119031, Application for Schengen Visa.
  • Confirmation letter in original (in English) from the employer; stating the salary, applicant's current employment/work and date when joining the company, the dates of the approved leave, and stating the purpose of the visit. The letter should be printed on the company letter and should be signed by the authorized person to sign such letters, name and position stated of the signer.
  • Bank certificate in the last 6 months. (For Emirates NBD clients, the bank is charging 25 AED per request)
  •  Two photographs in passport format, taken straight from the front and no older than six months.
  •  The passport must be valid for at least 3 months from the expiry date of the entry visa, as well as valid UAE residence visa – minimum 6 months.
  • Bookings (not confirmed nor paid) of round trip tickets.
  • Hotels or Accommodations during your stay.
  • Letter to the embassy of your itinerary if it is self-made. In my case, I didn't book for any tour agencies so basically, I made the itineraries all by myself.
  • Enough money to support yourself during your stay. In general, Sweden requires you to have SEK 450 per day/person. The required amount may be less if for instance you have paid for board and lodging in advance or live with friends or relatives. You should present excerpts from your bank account and/or present documents showing other disposable means. If the person who is inviting you to Sweden will be paying for your support, you must show in the same way that he/she has enough money to do so.
  • Travel insurance. I got mine from RSA. The travel insurance fee depends how long you are going to stay in Schengen areas.
  • Visa Fees  (Rates from VFS Global UAE)

  • Visa Category Visa Fees in Euros Visa Fees In AED
Visa application for Tourist Visit (Above 12 years of Age) 60 270
Visa application for Tourist Visit (Child between 6 & 12 Years) 35 160
Russian, Albanian, Ukrainian, Moldova, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonian (Former Yugoslav Republic), Bosnia and Herzegovina Nationals for short stay 35 160
    Service Fee AED 115
